Our virtual patient platform
The DecisionSim platform is designed with one goal in mind: to help healthcare professionals develop higher-level decision-making and reasoning skills.
Our computer-based, interactive clinical scenarios (known as virtual patients) help improve clinical decision-making at all levels—whether learners are long practicing providers or new students. The DecisionSim platform can be used to:
- Build clinical decision-making skills by informing and reinforcing practice guidelines
- Practice the application of clinical knowledge, diagnostics, services and therapeutics
- Prevent deviations from known guidelines and accepted practices
DecisionSim virtual cases are completely web-based, so access is available as needed—at any time or from any place. But they also rely on proven educational modalities. Authors can create complex, adaptive, branched narrative case scenarios that let learners engage in repetitive, deliberate practice. Learners get the benefit of realistic narratives that accurately reflect the problems they’ll be asked to solve in their real-life clinical environments.
The DecisionSim virtual patient platform:
- Leverages your experts as case authors
- Utilizes modern educational models
- Provides comprehensive data on each learner’s decisions
Built to teach decision-making
Many available general-purpose eLearning tools are extremely linear. In other words, learners can’t explore multiple decision pathways as they make different choices within the simulation. More often than not, these basic tools also lack ease of use. (In fact, many exist simply to prove that certain individuals took required training—not necessarily to actually enhance their knowledge.)
DecisionSim is different. Our platform is built to teach.
That’s why we’ve made sure it employs intuitive branched narrative authoring tools and offers an adaptive personalized learning experience.
